Keep an Eye Out for Humidity Levels!

We worked with a couple who built their home in the ’80s. With their own hands, they laid every stone and nailed each plank of wood into place. During construction, they neglected to install a way for air to properly circulate, so they relied on one centrally placed dehumidifier to force air through their entire home. Towards the start of spring, the dehumidifier broke, and decided to wait to get a new one. Unfortunately, the delay allowed mold to spread across their entire home’s ceilings. The ceilings in the smaller rooms were entirely covered, and mold was present on all of the beams throughout the rest of the home. This was a huge undertaking for them and resulted in some major losses.

The Takeaway

It is important to have some sort of dehumidifier, especially if there is no forced air or air conditioning system in your home so that humid air does not stay and collect in your home. This can cause serious problems as this family faced.
