Disinfecting The Neighborhood

What Was Disinfecting The Neighborhood About?

Disinfecting The Neighborhood

We’ve noticed that it’s became harder for families to get a hold of basic cleaning and disinfecting supplies. We wanted to help families within our community stay safer and healthier by supplying them with a disinfecting solution that’ll be safe and effective within their home.

Disinfecting The Neighborhood was a charitable event Mold Medics held to supply spray bottles containing a free disinfecting solution to the community. people could also bring their own clean, unused spray bottle and our team filled it with the same disinfecting solution. If it was a repurposed spray bottle we couldn’t fill it. If there are any leftover chemicals within said bottle, it could be harmful to their home and family to mix the two chemical solutions. To ensure that the disinfectant can get into as many homes as possible, we limited it to one bottle of disinfectant per family.

We took all of the necessary precautions to ensure that the event was sanitary, and didn’t aid in the spread of any pathogens or viruses. As per CDC guidelines, the event ran as a drive through to limit contact and wait time. We encouraged people to RSVP for the event to help us not only limit the amount of people at any given time, but to also make sure they got a bottle. We also asked that people who RSVP-ed don’t arrive outside of their designated time. If they planned on bringing their own bottle and don’t have an unused one, we pointed them towards retailers like Walmart and Dollar Tree who sell them for less than five dollars; bottles bigger than 32 oz. will not be filled.

More About The Disinfecting Solution

Disinfecting The Neighborhood

The disinfecting solution we use hospital grade quality, and is safe around people and pets. It is the same disinfecting solution we have been using to disinfect homes from mold and bacteria for years, and is made from two natural non-toxic ingredients; salt and filtered water.

It’s created by a process called electrolysis, where salt is electrically separated into its two main ions; Sodium and Chloride. Once separated, the Chloride is mixed with fresh water to create a strong sanitizing solution. Our disinfecting solution has demonstrated effectiveness against multiple small non-enveloped viruses on hard, nonporous surfaces.

For best use first do a general cleaning of the area you want to disinfect, making sure you thoroughly wipe down and mop all of your hard surfaces. Afterwards spray the disinfecting solution onto your hard surface, let it sit for ten minutes and thoroughly wipe it down leaving no solution left.

What Were The Results of Disinfecting The Neighborhood?

During the event we handed out dozens of bottles filled with disinfectant to people who stopped by the event. We also left additional bottles at the Verizon Wireless Zone near by for late attendants to still have a chance to get a bottle. In the end, we are happy we were able to help out families in our community stay safer during this trying time.

Donating To Other Charitable Organizations

In order to help those who wouldn’t be able to attend, we have been donating boxes containing hundreds of bottles of disinfection solutions to charitable Organizations and Municipalities across Pittsburgh. Organizations, and Municipalities, such as…

  • The Lighthouse – an outreach organization meeting the needs of impoverished individuals and families in northern Allegheny and Butler County.
  • City Mission – a Homeless Shelter located a few miles from South Hills that provides food, shelter, clothing and medical care for people who are in crisis, going through a difficult season in their lives.
  • Local Fire, Sheriff, and Police Stations – donating disinfection supplies to help the brave men and women keeping our communities safe protect themselves from rising viruses and pathogens.

If you can do anything to help others in need, please feel free to visit or contact you local charities to see what you can do to help support families during this trying time.
